Biography

Elizabeth was born Brixton, Plymouth, Devon, ENG. She was the wife of Stephen Greenleaf and the daughter of Tristram Coffin and Dionis Stephens.

Her father, Tristam Coffin, is considered the patriarch of Nantucket, and his beliefs and actions held considerable influence over the early colony.

Her husband, Stephen Greenleaf, was the son of Captain Edmund Jr. and Sarah (Moore) Greenleaf, was baptized on 10 Aug 1628 at St Margaret's Church in Ipswich, Suffolk, England.[1] He arrived in Newbury, Essex, Massachusetts about 1634 at the age of 6.[2]

He married (1) Elizabeth Coffin on November 13, 1651 in Newbury with whom he had 10 children. He married (2) Mrs. Esther Weare Sweet on March 31, 1679. There were no children from this marriage.
