About Elizabeth Jones

Biography

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Folland-4

Elizabeth Folland was probably born about 1630 - 1635 in England; the child of Thomas Folland /Falland/Follin[1]and his wife Unknown Folland, about whom nothing is known.

It seems plausible that Elizabeth may have migrated from England to Yarmouth, Plymouth Colony with her father and siblings in 1639. Her siblings were Thomas Folland and Mary (Folland) Wheldon.

Two Marriages

At Yarmouth, Elizabeth married first to Samuel Hall,[2]the eldest son of John Hall and his wife Bethia, whose last name at birth unknown.[3]This Hall family came to Yarmouth in 1653. Samuel died in 1996 (having no children),[3]his will was dated October 7, 1693 with his brother-in-law, Thomas Follin, being one of the executors.[4][5]Elizabeth was unable to testify at the probate of her late husband because she was lame so her testimony was written and mailed by John Anthony. Samuel Hall's inventory was taken February 2, 1693 and totalled 359=07=00.[6]

Elizabeth married, secondly to Jeremiah Jones in 1699 at Yarmouth.[2]on April 27. It was Jeremiah's 2nd marriage as well; he was first married to Sarah Dillingham who died before 1699. Jeremiah and his first wife had two children - John and Sarah.[7]

In 1761, Elizabeth and Jeremiah were living in a part of Plymouth Colony known as Rombout, according to Frank J. Doherty, for he writes that "Jeremiah Jones of Rombout and Elizabeth, his wife, sold two parcels of land in Rombout to James Hix, yeoman of the same for L 440. The two parcels included "140 acres and 3 acres, adjoining the 140 acres" which were next to Joseph Horton's mill.[8]Jeremiah Jones of Yarmouth died November 4, 1705.[9]

Will, Death, Inventory

The Last Will and Testament of Elizabeth Jones was recorded May 20, 1711 in which she is called an "aged widow woman." Her brother Thomas Folland and Colonel John Thacher were bequeathed L 10 each; 40s to Elizabeth Wheelden, (daughter of her sister Mary) 40s; her cousin Mary Wheelden, (daughter of Thomas Wheelden) 40s; Mary Rider (wife of Benjamin Rider) L 4; remainder equally divided between Elizabeth Mathews and Sarah Mathews (daughters of William Mathews. Thomas Folland and John Thacher, Executors.[10]

Elizabeth (Fowland) (Hall) Jones died at Yarmouth. Her will was probated on July 10, 1714 with her brother Thomas Folland being the only surviving Executor. The inventory of her estate was taken July 3, 1714 and totalled 43=01=00.[10]

No Children

Elizabeth bore no children from either spouse.[7]
