Biography

Elizabeth Manwaring (1663 - 1720), daughter of Oliver Manwaring and Hannah Raymond, married Peter Harris on 7 Jul 1686 in New London.

Peter Harris was born on 8 Dec 1660 in New London, Connecticut, son of Gabriel Harris (<1629 - 1684) and Mary Elizabeth (Abbot) Harris (~1634 - 1702). He died of dropsy on 25 Jan 1718 in New London aged 57.

Oliver Mainwaring or Manwaring, seaman and mariner, younger son of Oliver Mainwaring, a Gentleman of Exeter, Sowton and Dawlish, Devon, by his wife, Prudence Ashe (or Aishe, Ayshe). He immigrated to Connecticut and settled in New London, marrying Hannah Raymond before 1662. The couple had two sons, Richard (bp. 13 Jul 1673) and Oliver (bp. 2 Feb 1678/9), and eight daughters. The first four Hannah, Elizabeth (m. Peter Harris), Prudence (m. John Beckwith), Love (m. John Richards) were all baptised in 1671. The later four were baptised in order, Judith (bp. Apr. 1676, m. Simon Ray), Bathsheba (bp. 9 May 1680), Anne (bp. 18 Jun 1682, m. Jeremiah Wilson) and Mercy (m. Jonathan Palmer). Oliver died in New London on 3 November 1723, and left a will proved December 19th of that year. [2] All his children were living at the time of his death.
