• SIR JOHN HODLESTON, knt. Lord of Millum, who was sheriff of Cumberland in the 35th of HENRY VI. to which office he was appointed for life by the Duke of Gloucester. he represented the county in the 7th of EDWARD IV. and was keeper and bailiff of the king's woods and chases in Barnoldewicke, in the county of York, steward of Penrith, and warden of the West Marches. He m. JOANE, eldest daughter and co-heir of SIR MILES STAPLETON,|| and had three sons, viz.

    • JOHAN, m. to Hugh Fleming, esq. of Rydal, in Westmoreland. From this marriage descended MARY FLEMING, who m. Thomas Brougham, of Scales, ancestor of LORD CHANCELLOR BROUGHAM. See BURKE'S Peerage and Baronetage.
    • MARGARET, m. to Launcelot Salkeld, of Whitehall.
