About Elizabeth Jourdain
According to, Marjorie Campbell in McGillivray, Lord of the Northwest: She was named for her father's favorite sister Elizabeth and was remembered generously in her father's will many years later.
In her marriage records of 1807, she is indicated as being about 21 years old. This would give a birth year of 1786 when her father was in the Red River area. Elizabeth died 5 Sept 1858 and was buried in Ste-Elizabeth de Joliette, aged about 75, wife of the late Daniel Jourdain. This is an approximate age and would give a birth year of 1783. However, her father only came to Canada in 1784 and was not out West before 1785-86.
