Biography

Elizabeth Doty was born about 1680 in Sandwich or Rochester, Plymouth Colony, the daughter of Joseph and Deborah (Ellis) Doty.[1] It is also considered possible that she was the daughter of Elizabeth Warren who brought suit against Joseph for fathering her unborn child on 27 October 1674. He was placed on bond to appear at the March court to answer to the suit, but no further record appears.[1]

She married John Lewis on 28 February 1705/6 in Rochester. He died on 24 january 1711/12 in Dartmouth. It is possible that she remarried, but no later marriage has been identified.[1]

Elizabeth's death date and location is unknown, and no probate records have been found for her or her husband.[1]
