About Elizabeth Leyenberger

Elizabeth Quarter married Jacob Leyenberger. Her birth and death dates are unknown. Elizabeth and Jacob had four possible children:

  • Jacob Lineberry/Leyenberger, Jr b. about 1730 m. Catherine
  • George Lineberry b. 1741
  • William Lineberry
  • Francis Lineberry

Elizabeth was probably a passenger on the ship, Elizabeth, which docked at Philadelphia on 30 October 1738. Subsequent to their arrival in Philadelphia, Jacob, Elizabeth, and their family moved west to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where their youngest son, George, was born in 1741. They may have resided in this area for at least 20 years.

By 1760 the "Great Wagon Road" extended south into the Moravian settlements in North Carolina. Searching for more opportunities in America, Jacob, his wife, Elizabeth, and their three sons joined the throngs of Scots-Irish and German pioneers who traveled the “Great Wagon Road” south into Virginia and North Carolina.

By 1763, they were settled in the sprawling area of Orange County, North Carolina. It may be that the original Lineberry homestead was located on the south fork of the Rocky River in what is now Chatham County.
