About Elizabeth Emmaline Norvell
Within less than two years after her marriage to Dr. Trent of Cumberland, Emeline became a widow, a childless mother, and, finally died herself. She died during a visit to her dead husband's relatives in Cumberland. Her remains were brought back to Lynchburg. Several years previously, her sister, Martha, had died and she had been laid to rest in the garden at her parent's home. After Emeline died, however, Martha was disinterred; and they both were conveyed a few miles from the town to the Plantation of Captain William Norvell, which, from that period became the burial place of the Norvell family. It was called Radcliff.
