In the 1871 census Thomas and Helen are living in St Quivox with children Margaret 4 years, Elizabeth 2 years and Mary 1 year. Thomas is employed as a shoemaker.
In the 1881 census Thomas and Helen are living in Stranraer, Margaret is 14 years, Mary 11 years and Helen 9 years. Elizabeth is not recorded. She would have been 12 years old.
I have located a marriage for Elizabeth to James Smith in Stranraer in 1888 when they were both 20 years. I still can't locate them easily after this and can't locate a death for Elizabeth on Scotland's People. Both names are quite common which makes it quite difficult.
I have checked the possible Smiths for the censuses and cannot identify this couple. They may have emigrated or moved out of Scotland.
They migrated to Vancouver in Canada. The family was known as Smyth rather than Smith although various members seemed to have used either surname.
