About Elizabeth A. Shirley
"The Banner Press" September 29, 1910 Mrs. Elizabeth A. Shirley (nee Chandler), relict of Rev. William P. Shirley, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Propst, near Advance, September 23, 1910. She was born in South Carolina, June 2, 1823 and moved with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Richard W. Chandler to Alabama in 1834, to the eastern part of this (at that time part of Cape Girardeau, County) in 1836, where she resided with her parents until her marriage to William P. Shirley in 1841. She was the mother of ten children, two of whom survive her. Early in life she united with the General Baptist Church and remained a faithful and consistent member.
