Birth date confirmed by the Salt Lake City 15th Ward records. First documentation to place her in Utah was her marriage to James Staples on 31 December 1854 in the "President's Office." In the 1856 Utah census she and James were in the Salt Lake 15th Ward; this is also where she died. In the Salt Lake County death records she is "Elizth Jane Lurd Staples." According to her death notice in the Latter-day Saints Millennial Star, she died of "lung disease." Additional research is needed to identify the year she crossed the plains and the name of the pioneer company with which she traveled.
