Elizabeth Steptoe

Elizabeth Eskridge was born ABT 1716 in Sandy Point, Westmorland Co., Virginia, and died 17 Aug 1770 in , Westmorland Co., Virginia.

She was the daughter of George Eskridge and Elizabeth Craddock, Porten (born Vaulx)

Elizabeth Eskridge was the daughter of Col. Eskridge's second wife. She married twice. First to William Aylett then to Dr. James Steptoe. Both of these men had children before marrying Elizabeth. Strangely, both men were married to Ashton Sisters. Anne Steptoe Washington was first the daughter of Dr. James Steptoe and Hannah Ashton. She was Samuel Washington's 4th of 5 wives. 2. James Steptoe M.D. ABT 1744 in , Westmorland Co., Virginia, son of John Steptoe and Elizabeth Pinkard. He was born ABT 1710 in 'Hominy Hall", Westmorland Co., Virginia, and died ABT 1778 in , Westmorland Co., Virginia.

Children of Elizabeth Eskridge and William Aylett are:

• i. Mary Aylett.
• ii. Anne Aylett was born ABT 1738, and died 12 Dec 1768 in , Westmorland Co., Virginia. Anne married Augustine Washington II, half-brother to President Washington.

• i. James "Jemmie" Steptoe was born 16 Jul 1750 in ,, Virginia, and died 9 Feb 1826 in , Bedford Co., Virginia.

• (1) 1735, 27 Oct: George ESKRIDGE made his will. Wife use of land given Samuel for her life, slave she brought me in marriage and 10 other slaves for life and at her death to my daughter Elizabeth; my daughter Elizabeth land on Pohick, Prince William Co., slaves and stock thereon.
• (3b) 1744, 20 Oct: Elizabeth ESKRIDGE, widow of George ESKRIDGE, made her will. Gave to daughter Elizabeth AYLETT.
