Elizabeth owned the plantation "Haly's Lot" and other real estate that she inherited from her father Clement. She and her sister were orphaned quite early. They were left in the care of their father's executor, John Long who died two years after their father. He left the girls in the care of his wife Eleanor. If she were to die when the girls were still minors, their grandfather Edward Turner was to take charge of them and their estate.
