26 Oct 1720 - TURNER's estate to be sold at outcry. This court being
informed that EDWARD TURNER is departed this life intestate leaving so small an estate no person hath petitioned for administ. thereon. Therefore is it ordered that the sheriff of the county do take said estate from said person or persons who hath the same in their possession (which persons are to deliver the same on oath unto his custody.) And said sheriff by way of outcry take obligacons with security in his own name of such persons as shall be purchasers. Obligatant shall be disposed of according to law. The Mary SMITH who was the daughter of Alexander Smith and wife Elizabeth (widow succesively of Francis POSEY and of John BELAINE) married a different Edward TURNER ... There was an Edward TURNER of St. Mary's County that as you note, had written his will there in 1693 that was probated there in 1709 ....

The other Edward TURNER (son of Arthur TURNER) was of Charles County and the one who married Mary, daughter of Alexander SMITH. Alexander SMITH in his will stated his grandsons Arthur TURNER and Alexander Smith TURNER, sons of Edward and Mary TURNER were to receive 5000 pounds tobacco each at the age of 21. To his daughter Mary TURNER and her heirs he left 500 acres of land at Piscataway and a half part of the tract *Batchelor's Harbor*.
