Ellen was the daughter of Richard Gunne of Saintbury, Gloucestershire. She was born before 1558 based on the fact that she was old enough at the time of her first husband's death to be executrix of his will.
Ellen was first married to Joseph Phelps of Bengeworth. When he died in Nov 1579 [1] she was his executrix. [2] According to the same source there were several children from this marriage. [3]
After Joseph's death, Ellen married John Tomes of Long Marston. She died before 1601, when John took a second wife, Anne Warner.
John Tomes and Ellen Gunne were married about 1586. Their children were born in Marston Sicca, Gloucestershire, which is now Long Marston, Warwickshire.

Ellen Gunne, born WFT Est. 1547-1580 in of Saintbury; Gloustershire; died Bef. August 03, 1601 in County Cloucester, England. She was the daughter of Richard Gunne , Jr. and Anne Fullwood.
She married (1) Joseph Phelps. She married (2) John Tomes 1579. He was the son of John Tomes and Alice Harburne.
John Tomes married 2nd to Ann Warner, who married 2nd Henry Cooper of Pelsworth.
