About Elmer Dills
Nationally Syndicated Radio and Television Host. Dills, who developed his knowledge of food and wine while working with the State Department as an officer for the CIA, traveled throughout Europe and the Middle East for more than twenty years, hosting heads of state and other VIPs as part of his job. In the early 1970s, utilizing a simple grading system from A through F, he wrote restaurant reviews for the Los Angeles Herald Examiner which later syndicated his column to other publications across the country. In 1975, he became the host of a radio talk show on dining, and shortly thereafter, began hosting 'Dining with Elmer Dills' for the local ABC-TV affiliate in Los Angeles, which was syndicated to other TV stations in major cites across the country. His radio reviews were featured both nationally and abroad on his show 'Elmer Dills' Good Life'. Many restaurants nationwide still have his picture and highly respected comments posted on their walls and on their websites. Dills died after a lengthy illness.
