Elmer Otto Kruger was born on September 9, 1930, in Lincoln County, MN, the son of Otto and Augusta Kruger. He was united in marriage to Joyce Kruger on December 27, 1957 in Lake Benton, MN. The couple moved to Minneapolis, MN, where Elmer drove bus. Later, the couple moved to Elkton, SD, and Elmer hauled cattle for a local farmer. They eventually made their home in Volga, SD, where Elmer made a career in hauling milk for Land O Lakes, for more than 30 years. Elmer continued to live in Volga until 2016, when he moved into The Neighborhood’s at Brookview, in Brookings.

Elmer was a long-time goer of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Brookings, where he had many friends whom would check on him frequently.

He will be remembered for his famous sayings such as, “You think so”, “Is that right”, “That’s a full-time job”, and “What’s the good word of the day”.

Elmer loved to Go out for dinner after he entered the Neighborhood’s. His favorite place to eat was Dairy Queen, because, “Ya know, where can you go get a hamburger and ice cream all in the same building?”

He will be remembered by many friends and family who will mis him dearly!

Elmer was preceded in death by his wonderful wife of 56 years, Joyce Kruger, three brothers, Bob, Ernest and Raymond, and his parents, Otto and Augusta Kruger.
