About Elmer Nyel Madsen
Elmer Nyel Madsen was the second child of seven born to Anton Elmer Madsen and his wife Sarah Nelson, born November 7, 1908, in Bramwell, Canyon County, Idaho. He was their only son. They were listed as follows in the 1910 U.S. Federal Census for Bramwell: Anton Elmer, 28, Sarah, 23, Mable, 2, Elmer Nyel, 1 year, 6 months, and Mary, one month old. Anton Elmer and Sarah had been married for three years, he was working as a farm laborer and was renting his home. Anton Elmer and Sarah were married August 28, 1906, in Bear Lake County, Idaho. Sarah was the daughter of David Anthony Nelson and Mary Ellen Greenhalgh. Anton Elmer Madsen was the son of Anton Peter Madsen and Mary Jane Elizabeth Nelson. Anton Peter had been born in Denmark and his family immigrated to America in 1957 after they joined the LDS Church in Denmark.
By the 1920 census, the family was living in Diamondville, Lincoln County, Wyoming, and were listed as follows: Elmer, 37, Sara, 34, Mabel, 12, Nyel, 11, Mary, 9, Lenore, 8, Nellie, 6, Jennie, 3, and Fern, 1 year old. Anton Elmer was working as an engineer. Sadly, Nyel's mother, Sarah Nelson Madsen, passed away the following year on June 22, 1921, and was buried in the Bloomington Cemetery in Bear Lake County, Idaho, Plot 11-23. She was only 35 years old at the time of her death.
In the 1930 census for Diamondville, Lincoln County, Wyoming, Nyel, 21, was living with his 48-year old widower father, Anton Elmer, and sisters Lenore, 18, Jennie, 13, and Fern, 11. They were renting their home for $8 per month, Anton Elmer was working as the barn boss of a coal company and Nyel as a laborer in the coal mine, and Lenore was the deputy post mistress for the U.S. Government. They were all born in Idaho except for Anton Elmer who was born in Utah, and his father was born in Denmark and mother in Utah.
Six years later, Anton Elmer Madsen passed away at the age of 54 years old on February 1, 1936, in Kemerer, Lincoln County, Wyoming. He was buried with his wife, Sarah, in the Bloomington Cemetery.
I'm not sure when Elmer Nyel Madsen married his wife Isabelle, but she is mentioned in his obituary below. Elmer Nyel Madsen was only 37 years old when he was injured in a mining accident and passed away as a result of injuries suffered in the accident. I don't know if Elmer Nyel and Isabelle ever had any children, since none were mentioned in his obituary.
