Elavus (Elof) Magnusson

• Elof was the Brother of Birger jarl and the 3rd son of Magnus Bengtsson Minnesköld (Folkungaätten) and his first wife
• Elof is above all known by a letter from 1268 Written in Vadstena Royal Farm here proclaims he that he, with his wife's consent, has donated his farm in Aspelunda with all the premises of Alvastra monastery, where he also Selects its burial site

ELOF is primarily known through a letter from 1268 written on Vadstena King's Garden (the original text above right). Haris Kung ban with his wife's consent, carried skank in In Aspelunda farm with all the village to Alvastra Kloster, where he oeksâ chooses the burial ground. [1]

ELOF had three Children, which were cousins of King Valdemar Birgersson;

• Bengt Elofsson (winged pi) first to have a weapon with an arrow with wings. He is mentioned in Swedish Diplomatariums Huvudkartotek as Omnibus Christi Fidelibus presents Inspecturis, Benedict Eleph son Salutem in Domino Sempiternam propane hominumLabilem memoriam, when in a proclamation in February in 1293 Announces that forests and land have been passed on to ' Fröknarna ' Ingeborg and Margaret as the inheritance of their father, the issuer's father-in-law, with the consent of the issuer's wife Katarina and her sister Birgitta. Witnesses are Lars Boberg, Rörik Birger'S son and Algot Jonsson, who also together with the issuer are sigillanter.
• Ingeborg Elofsdotter (winged pi);married to the knight, the lawyer I Södermanland and the national council Anund Haraldsson (winged Lilja) (DoD 1291) With whom She got her daughter Hclga Anundsdotter (winged lily). Ingeborg inherited according to husband's farm and some land holdings, among other two Gardant I asby outside Arboga.
• Cecil Elofsdotter (winged pi), married to Magnus Karlsson (Lejonbalk)

The name on ELOF wife (R) is unknown. It is if he oeksâ self himself Forde give weapons ("winged pi") that his children did.

Magnus & his first wife had four children:

• a) ESKIL Magnusson (-[1227]). “…B. dux…M. frater ducis B et filius eius Eskillus…” witnessed a charter dated to [1167/99] under which “Kanutus…Sweorum rex” donated property to the monks of Juleta kloster[33]. Lagmand in Västergötland 1219/20. m (1217) as her second husband, KIRSTIN Nilsdotter, widow of HAAKON "Gallin" Jarl in Norway, daughter of NILS Blaka & his wife Katharina Eriksdotter of Sweden (-1254).
• b) [34] daughter' m SIGTRYGG Bengtson [Boberg] (-after 1219).
• c) KARL Magnusson (-killed in battle Rotala, Estonia 8 Aug 1220). Bishop of Linköping. Chancellor of Sweden.
• d) ELOF Magnusson (-bur Alvästra Abbey). 1253/68. m --- (-bur Alvästra Abbey).

Magnus & his second wife INGRID [Ylva] had two children

• e) BENGT Magnusson (-4 Jan 1237). Bishop of Linköping 1220. m ---. The name of Bengt´s wife is not known. Bengt & his wife had one child:

i) MAGNUS Bengtsson (-1263). Lagmand in Östergötland. m RAGNHILD, daughter of (-1262).

• f) BIRGER Magnusson ([1200]-20/21 Oct 1266, bur Varnhem Abbey). The Icelandic Annals record that "dominus Birgerus Magni filius" was made "comes in Svecia" in 1248[35]. Jarl at Bjälbo. Regent of Sweden. Founder of Stockholm.

Vadstena, 27 oktober 1268:

Elof var son till Ingrid Ylva i hennes andra äktenskap och därigenom halvbror till Birger jarl. Hans fadersnamn är inte känt.

Elof är framför allt känd genom ett brev från 1268 skrivet på Vadstena kungsgård (se originaltext ovan höger). Häri kungör han att han, med sin hustrus samtycke, har skänkt sin gård i Aspelunda med alla tillägor till Alvastra kloster, där han också väljer sin gravplats. [1]

Elof hade tre barn, vilka alltså var kusiner till kung Valdemar Birgersson:

•Bengt Elofsson (vingad pil)

•Ingeborg Elofsdotter (vingad pil), gift med riddaren, lagmannen i Södermanland och riksrådet Anund Haraldsson (vingad lilja) (död 1291) med vilken hon fick dottern Helga Anundsdotter (vingad lilja). Ingeborg ärvde efter sin make en del gårds- och jordinnehav, bland annat två gårdar i Åsby utanför Arboga.

•Cecilia Elofsdotter (vingad pil), gift med Magnus Karlsson (Lejonbalk)

Namnet på Elofs hustru(r) är okänt. Det är också ovisst om han själv förde det vapen ("vingad pil") som hans barn gjorde.

Levde 1253. Begravet sammen med sin

hustru 1268 i Alvesra klosterkirke,

ved Vedstena i Sverige.

• Elof was the Brother of Birger jarl. His father's name is not known, and because his child used a seal with a winged arrow, it has been assumed that he was the Son of Ingrid Ylva in a second marriage
