Elsabeth du Bruyn (1942 - 2013)

Brief overview:

Elsabeth (71), a widow and farmer from the district, was found dead in her home at around 09h00 on 7th September 2013, in her home. Her hand and feet were bound and she was laying in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor. There was also a rope around her neck. Elsabeth was allegedly robbed and murdered in her home at about 20:00 the night before. Only two firearms, a .22 pistol and a .38 Special revolver, are missing from the home, Const. Police spokesperson Maselela Langa said. Two suspects were found in possession of a firearm and cellphone belonging to Elsabeth and were arrested. They will appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court, where after they will be transported to Brandfort and charged with murder and house robbery. Free State police spokesperson Malelela Langa said the two were arrested on Saturday morning. A week prior, the two were taken into custody and questioned by detectives, but they were released again because their fingerprints had to be analysed first in order for them to be officially charged.
