Elsie Pieroni

Ninety two year old Mount Shasta resident, Elsie Pieroni, passed away peacefully at the Madrone Hospice House in Yreka on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017.

Elsie was born to William and Catherine Schon on Aug. 19, 1925, in North Dakota, where the family owned and operated a farm.

Elsie was one of 12 children, who all shared a two bedroom farmhouse. When Elsie was young, she followed her older sister, Freida, from the family farm to Oakland, California. There, Elsie met and married Ernest Pieroni after the conclusion of World War II.

Ernest and Elsie made their home in the Oakland/Alameda area, where they raised their children, until 1990, when they made the move to Mount Shasta. Elsie spent her time as a homemaker, raising three children, sewing, gardening and taking care of the family.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest, in 2015; and 8 of her 11 siblings.

She is survived by her children, Ernest of Gazelle, Roseanna (Arthur) Wagner of Weed and Donald (Claudia) of Woodenville, Washington; her siblings, Albert, Ardell and Ann; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

At Elsie’s request, no services are to be held. Elsie will be laid to rest with her husband in Saint Mary Cemetery in Oakland.
