About Emanuel (Mendl) Knöpfelmacher

As a young adult, Emanuel Knopfelmacher lived first in Wsetin (Vsetin), Moravia. He returned to Holesov for several years and resided in households #5, #3, and #4. He then spent several more years in Wsetin, then lived for a period of time in Krasna (Krasne nad Becvou). According to the history of Valasske Mezirici, Emanuel Knopfelmacher, "Jewish shopkeeper and businessman", was living in Krasna as early as 1822. He apparently maintained households in both Krasna and in Holesov. According to Vienna records, he was a resident of Holesov, Moravia when he died there in May 1841. In October 1841, he is described as "the deceased Emanuel Knopfelmacher, familiant #37 from Holesov".

Emanuel [Mandl] [Mendl] Knopfelmacher, b. household #25, 16 Mar 1787, d. Vienna, 24 May 1841, was familiant No. 37. He m. 9 Aug 1804, Freudl [aka Anna, aka Franciska] Donath, b. Wsetin 1787, dau of Rabbi Joachim Donath. She d. in Holesov in 1873, age 86. Marriage record: “Mandl K’macher, age 20, and Freudl Donath, age 19, m. 9 Aug 1804 [witnesses: Joachim Donath, Markus Knopfelmacher].”
