Emery Albert EYRE, for the past 12 years a resident of Pontiac, passed away at his home, 910 East Timber Street, at 3:40 p.m. yesterday. [24th January, 1935] Death followed an illness of 2 years. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the chapel of the Raleigh J. Harris Mortuary, Reverend A. H. Smith, pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal church, conducting. Burial will be in the Rooks Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at the family home. Emery Albert EYRE was born on the 17th of March 1874 near Cropsey, Illinois, the son of Benjamin and Lavina WELLS EYRE. He grew to young manhood there and on the 11th of December 1901, married Miss Etta PUTNAM. Their home was established at Cropsey and 12 years ago, [1923] they moved to this city. During his residence here Mr. EYRE was engaged as an engineer with the Pontiac Ice and Fuel Company. He retired two years ago in 1933. Mr. EYRE is survived by his wife and the following children; Mrs. Zelma BENSON and Mrs. Evelyn [Rayburn] MILLER, Pontiac; Mrs. Erma CLINE, Colfax; Alice, at home; Wilbur, of Swygert, and Mrs. Lela [Ed] FIELDMAN of Dwight, Illinois. Four grandchildren; Alta Mae BENSON, Dora Alice BENSON, Loretta CLINE and Donna Jean EYRE also survive him. Two sisters; Mrs. Minnie CLARK, Grand Beach, Michigan, and Mrs. Ella SMITH, Wichita, Kansas also survive him along with a brother, Benjamin EYRE Jr. of Saybrook and a half-brother, Charles RAMSEY of Wichita, Kansas. His parents and one half-sister, Miss Lillie RAMSEY, precede him in death.
