About Emery M. Waddell

GEDCOM Note

For some unknown reason Emery is left off of the 1860 and 1880 censii. Upon closer inspection a child named Emily in 1860 and a child named Elizabeth both bear his same birth date and (in the case of Elizabeth) are called a male. They are both likely to be Emery. It could be that a combination of illiteracy and possibly a speach problem characteristic to the family lead to the census taker guessing at the true name of the male child mentioned. They both had to be Emery since there is no other child by either name (who is male) that is listed later.Inconsistencies in birth locations for Emery and his siblings show them being born sometimes in Texas and sometimes in Mississippi. Emery stated that he was born in MS but no record shows anything other than Sumpter, Trinity, TX. See explanation attached to Lucy his sister...
