The birth date on her tombstone doesn't match census records, but is the same person in those locations. Illiteracy and speech impediments (severe stuttering) may have played a big part in many of my Waddell, Waddel, Waddle ancestors. Their names (including misspelling of my great grandfather's name, Emery/Emily though both are said to be male of the same age) and birth dates are rarely the same as census records. Census records are an accurate representation of an interview with the family, but many times say the children were born in Mississippi in one and in Texas in another! I guess it depended on who was interviewed. None of the Waddell children of John and Cynthia were ever said to be literate. Being orphaned at young ages, dates, spelling and birth locations become secondary to survival.
