Obituary of Mrs. Emelie K. Hill
Mrs. Casper Hill, Sr. died Sunday in the home of a daughter in Howard where she was visiting. She had been in poor health for some time.
Mrs. Emilie Hill was born Sept. 17, 1855 in Germany and came to Wisconsin with her parents at the age of a year and a half.
On Nov. 10, 1876 she was married to Casper Hill and they came to Dakota Territory and settled near Canova in 1882. They later returned to Wisconsin and made there home there for a time.
Surviving relatives are three daughters, Mrs. Edith Willert of Glenwood City, Wisconsin, Mrs. Louis Eggert and Mrs. Fred Eggert of Howard; six sons, Louis, John, Emil, Herman and Paul of Glenwood City, Wisconsin and Casper of Unityville. There are 35 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren in addition to two sisters, Mrs. Augusta Graese of Madison and Mrs. Sarah Wulff of Austin, Minnesota. Mr. Hill and five children preceded her in death.
The funeral is being held this (Wednesday) afternoon at the South of Town Lutheran Church of which the deceased was a member for a good many years. The services are being conducted by the pastor, Rev. M. F. Amelung and burial will be in the church cemetery. Many friends of this old pioneer will extend sympathy to the bereft family.
