  • Willem Vis, was sentenced in the Free State High Court to life imprisonment plus 37 years.
  • He has great understanding for the anger and dismay of the community and the family of the late Ms. Emmerentia Botha, judge C.B. Cillié said before sentencing Willem Vis.
  • Due to the burglary with intent to rob and aggravated robbery, he sentenced Vis to 16 years in prison. **Because of the rape of Botha, he was sentenced to life imprisonment and for the murder of her to 21 years in prison. Cillié said Vis has a terrifying list of previous convictions that began when he was not even 15 years old.
  • He served several terms in prison before being released on correctional supervision. He was previously convicted eight times of burglary and once of theft.
