Weiers worked as a glass painter for Jan Thorn Prikker; friendship with 
Karl Friedrich Schmidt-Rottluff ; 1929-33 attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy (with Heinrich Campendonk), finally master student of Paul Ernst Klee

Ernst Weiers ( born September 17, 1909 in Oespel / Westphalia; † June 3 , 1978 in Bernried ) was a German painter , glass painter , graphic artist , sculptor and lithographer . He is attributed to the " Lost Generation " and was a member of the New Group .

He emigrated to Switzerland with Paul Klee in 1933, but was deported again in 1936. In 1937, as part of the Nazi campaign “ Degenerate Art ”, his woodcut Prayer (24.5 × 27.7 cm) was confiscated from the Duisburg Municipal Art Collection and destroyed.

From 1939 to 1945 he served as a soldier in Poland, France, Italy and Russia and documented his impressions in numerous drawings, which he was allowed to send home thanks to an understanding regiment commander. In 1949 he returned from Russian captivity

In 2015 there was an exhibition "Ernst Weiers - A Great Artist of the Lost Generation " in the Faber-Castell Castle in Stein near Nuremberg, which presented 40 drawings and prints (from the National Socialist period, the war and imprisonment) and 20 oil paintings from the time after the war, arranged in two sections
