About Ernst Heinrich Wilhelm Bohne

ERNEST BOHNE
One of the saddest deaths in the city, resulting from Spanish influenza was that of Ernest Bohne of 468 Orchard Street which occurred Saturday at 4:30 o'clock.

Mr. Bohne was father of a family of four small children, who with their mother, were taken ill with the disease several weeks ago. Attempts to secure a nurse proved futile, and Mr. Bohne, who was employed on a job at Naperville with the Logan and Gilberts Company, came home to care for them. He brought them through but contracted it himself, later developing pneumonia.

Mr. Bohne was born in Germany June 14, 1882 and came to America 32 years ago. Since that time, he has been a resident of Elgin. Ten years ago he married Miss Lulu Hines of this city.

Besides his family, he leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bohne, Sr., of this city and five brothers and six sisters: Henry, Carl, William, Fred, and Edward Bohne and Mrs. Joe Reeh, Mrs. Charles Harms, Mrs. William Guptail, and the Misses Ella and Clara Bohne.

Funeral services will be private and will be held tomorrow afternoon from the Wait and Ross chapel at 2 o’clock. Burial will take place at Bluff City cemetery. Rev. Han Jacoby, pastor of St. Pauls’ German Evangelical church will officiate. Rev Jacoby was the officiating clergyman at the wedding services for Mr. and Mrs. Bohne.
