About Ernst Frederick Loesch

From the limited number of Loesch records in the NZ BDM is looks there might have been only one family. Loesch Co. in NZ Archives)

During WW I listed as Class in Reserves - implies he was not providing for his children at that point:

NEW ZEALAND AND WORLD WAR ONE SOUTH TARANAKI RESERVISTS H - O

Reservists were lists of men resident in an area during the First World War who could be called on for military service. This is the closest that New Zealand has to a census for this period.

The Second Division Roll of the New Zealand Expeditionay Force Reserve was created by the NZ Government in August-October 1917.

Classification is based on the number of children of a reservist.

Class A - Reservists who have no children or who failed to provide adequate maintenance for their children.

Name/Title BETWEEN Atutahi Rukuwai of Parihaka Aboriginal Native Plaintiff and Charlie Lyttle of Punake Motor Garage Proprietor Defendant [item]

Primary Prod Date 1917

Brief Description Documents pertain to a case filed by a 'Dominion of New Zealand Aboriginal Native' against a motor garage proprietor (Lyttle) regarding car repairs, sales and services. The plaintiff claims the defendant convinced him his Hudson motor car was in ill repair and that he should buy a Ford motor car. The plaintiff did so and was lent a second-hand Ford to drive in the meantime. The plaintiff claims the damage done to his original Hudson was fraudulently represented, and he has not been given his newly purchased Ford. The defendant counterclaims for work done and services rendered. Includes a list of services rendered, a statement of account, bank receipts, and correspondence relating to the case.
