  • On 7th November John Leonard du Plooy (32) was found guilty in the Roodepoort Regional Court and again sentenced to life imprisonment plus 15 years for robbery with aggravating circumstances. This follows a murder and robbery committed in August 2018 in Roodepoort. Du Plooy is already serving two life sentences plus 30 years in prison for murder and robbery in Springs and Alberton in June and September 2018 respectively. He will end up having to serve three life sentences for murder plus 45 years for aggravated robbery.
  • Capt. Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi, spokesperson for the directorate for priority crime investigations (the Falcons), said his co-accused, Shaun Oosthuizen (42) was given four life sentences plus 80 years in the Pretoria Regional Court on 16 May 2022.
  • "The arrest of the two men follows the investigation of the murder of four elderly women between 2018 and 2019 at different nursing homes in Mpumalanga and Gauteng."
