About Espiridión Guanco
In late 1909, Guanco was elected to the Philippine House of Representatives on behalf of the 4th constituency . During his term in the House, which lasted until 1912, he chaired the Banking and Business Committee. In 1916 he was elected to the Senate of the Philippines on behalf of the 8th constituency . Because he got more votes in his district than Manuel Lopez , he won a six-year term. During the 5th Philippine legislature , Guanco was the Senate President pro tempore (deputy in the absence of Senate President Manuel Quezon ). At the end of his term, he was elected in the 1922 electionsre-elected for a new term of six years. However, as senate president pro tempore , he was succeeded by Sergio Osmeña after the 1922 elections.
