(Research):5th Feb 1875 Timaru Herald
Assault case. Pearce v. Pearce. In this base Esther Pearce, the plaintiff sought to have her husband, defendant, bound over to keep the peace, in consequence of his ill treatment of her. Mr White appeared for plaintiff. Tho case was proved and defendant was bound over to keep tho peace towards his wife for six months. Esther Pearce v John Simpson. This case arose out of the last one. Plaintiff said that on thee occasion of the assault just heard, defendant was with her husbaud. She endeavored to get her child from her husband, and defendant caught hold of her wrists, caused pain, and altogether used her badly. His Worship ordered defendant to pay the costs of the case.
