Obituary - Mrs. George Reid, W. Pittston, Dies - (note: REID was spelled as REED, corrected by this typing - Sue) Mrs. George Reid, 14 Excelsior St., West Pittston, died this morning at 5 in Nesbitt Memorial Hospital, Kingston, where she was admitted last night as a medical patient.
Mrs. Reid, the former Ethel Messick was born in Pittston August 6, 1898, the daughter of the late Edward and Sarah Hunt Messick. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pittston, Thalia Rebeca Lodge IOOF of Pittston; Order of Eastern Star Chapter 1; Class Seven of the Sunday School and the WSCS of the church.
Surviving are her husband George, proprietor of Messick's Market, West Pittston; a son Edward, Piscataway, NJ; daughters, Mrs. Harold Augustine, Camp Hill; Mrs. John W. Harding, Mobile, Ala.; 11 grandchildren; brothers, T. Irwin Messick and George Messick, both of West Pittston; James Messick, Camp Hill.
The funeral will be held from the Strubeck Funeral Home, 211 West Luzerne Ave., West Pittston, Tuesday morning at 11 with Rev. Charles F. Gommer Sr., pastor of First United Methodist Church, Pittston, and Rev. Daniel R. Williams, Jr., pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church, West Pittston, officiating. Interment will be in the Pittston Cemetery.
Viewing Sunday and Monday evenings, 7 to 10.
Funeral Notice - Final Rites for Mrs. George Reid - The funeral of Mrs. George Reid, 14 Excelsior St., West Pittston, was held this morning from the Waren E. Strubeck Funeral Home, 211 Luzene Ave., West Pittston.
Rev. Charles F. Gommer, Sr., pastor of the United Methodist Church, Pittston, and Rev. Daniel R. Williams, Jr., pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church, West Pittston, officiated.
Interment was in the Pittston Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Clifford Melberger, Robert Elby, Eslywn Jones, Albert Tamburro, Harold Davis and Glenn Carpenter.
