About Eugene O'Sullivan

Eugene O'Sullivan (Green) was born sometime between 1841 & 1847. According to his Death Certificate Eugene was 85 when he died in 1926 which would make his date of birth 1841. He was married in February 1870 and his age is listed at 22 which would make his date of birth 1847. The family story goes that Eugene came over the mountain from Tousist to Bonane to call on a widow Ellen Shea. Ellen's husband: John O'Sulllivan (Caoch) had died sometime in the 1860's and she was left with 4 children and a farm to work and it was this situation that brought Eugene to Bonane. Whatever conversation took place between the 2 of them it was decided that he should marry Ellen's daughter Mary. They were married in February 1870. Mary was 14 years old. On the Marriage Certificate Eugene is listed as a Shoemaker and his Father was also Eugene. Mary's Father is John Sullivan. They were married in the Roman Catholic Church of Bonane in the presence of Daniel Shea and Robert Sullivan. Mary told my mother that Eugene was a kind man.
