Mary O'Sullivan

Mary O'Sullivan (Caoch) was born in 1855 . She married Eugene O'Sullivan (Green) in February 1870 when she was 14. . The marriage certificate states he was 22 in 1870 but his death certificate makes him 29 in 1870.--2 census returns shows him at 27 so I'm inclined to go with that. John her father had died and at the time a woman could not hold land so a man was needed to keep the farm. The story goes that Eugene came over the mountain to Milleens in Bonane from Tousist to call on her mother Ellen. She would have been in her mid 40's at the time so whatever discussion took place it was decided that he marry Mary. She knew him for 2 weeks before the wedding and said he was a kind man. They had 12 children as far as I know with 9 surviving. She was never in a hospital , didn't need glasses or dentures and lived to her 90's. What a woman!
