About Eva Donohue
MEERSCHAUM VALE, March 9 1922
As Mrs J. Donohue, accompanied by her brother, Mr. Louis Sohn, was returning home
in a sulky from the Alstonville show on the first day, a big stone on the road was noticed.
The horse was, trotting down the Meerschaum Vale cutting at the top of the mountain at the time,
Mr. Sohn had the reins, and he drove over the stone and was thrown out, receiving a nasty wound in the head.
Tho reins got twisted round the step of the sulky, and the horse continued trotting down
the hill at a fast pace, with Mrs. Donohue in the sulky. She was at a loss as to what to
do, and sat quietly in the vehicle for a while. She then thought of her parasol handle,
which was curved, and with much difficulty succeeded in reaching the reins by its aid and
pulling the horse up. She then drove back for Mr. Sohn.
