About Eva L. McMichael Meredith (Clement)
Eva lived a quiet life devoted to raising her four children and being there for her hard-working husband, Alvin. She chose to be at home for her kids rather than be involved in various community organizations.
Eva enjoyed teaching her children how to play card games, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and working crossword puzzles. Her children learned cooking as well as sewing skills from their mother, plus discipline, and a responsibility towards chores and jobs. Close friendships were important in Eva's life. In fact, the coffee pot was always ready for a visitor who chanced to drop by any time. Later in life, Eva's grandchildren became her pride and joy!
Even though Eva loved to dance, she sat patiently and quietly while her young husband, along with his father, brother, and other friends played for dances in the local communities. In fact, it was she who began teaching her children the two-step, waltz, polka, and some round dances.
After the death of her husband, Alvin, Eva filled the void by participating in a Bible Study group there in Farnam, Nebraska. With a few other widowed ladies, she also began attending the Gothenburg Senior Center sponsored dances. It was at one of these dances, she reacquainted with Fred Meredith! Soon, they were courting, and then they married in 1984. Theirs was a happy union, only to be broken by Eva's untimely death due to a heart attack in 1992.
