ANTHONY — Faye Louise Terrel, 88, passed away Sept. 14, 2011 at the Attica Long Term Care Facility. She was born Feb. 16, 1923 in Leoti, the daughter of Robert Earl and Hessie Ellen (Brock) Ford. She graduated from Leoti High School and attended college at the OU Medical Center receiving her LPN license. In later years, she attended classes at KU Medical Center, working towards her RN. Louise was united in marriage with Roy Highfill in 1939. This union was blessed with three children, Barbara, Robert and Jimmy. Roy passed away in 1953. Louise worked as an LPN for many years at various hospitals and healthcare facilities including Galloway Hospital in Anthony, Bass Hospital in Enid, Okla.; and Little Sisters of the Poor in Kansas City. On October 17, 1976, Louise married Johnie Clyde Terrel. They moved from Fort Worth, Texas to Anthony, Kansas in 1995. Johnie passed away on January 2, 2009. Louise loved people and never met a stranger. She was always chipper and ready to help. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her son, Jimmy; her son-in-law, Jim Lear; a sister, Ruby Schwindt; two infant brothers, and brothers-in-law, Jim Cox, LeRoy Schwindt and Clark Harbach. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Barbara Lear, Great Bend; her son, Bob Highfill and wife Janet, Anthony; three grandsons, Tom Lear and wife Debra, Bartlesville, Okla.; Rusty Lear and wife Sandra, Littleton, Colo.; and Danny Lear and wife Alicia, Great Bend; five great grandchildren, Dustin Lear and wife Ashley, Pratt; Katie Jo Lear, Kansas City, Austin Lear, Denver, Colo.; Leah Lear, Phoenix, Ariz.; and Sarah Jo Lear, Hays; one great-great grandson, Bradyn Lear, Pratt; her brother, Glen Ford and wife Vera, Leoti; her sisters, Evagene Harbach, Scott City; and Doris Martin and husband Bill, Greeley, Colo.; several nieces and nephews for whom she had a special love for; other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 28 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony with Pastor Teddy Cook officiating. Inurnment will be at Forest Park Cemetery, Anthony. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Attica Long Term Care or to Hospice Care of Kansas and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
