Faye Eliza Green Hortch, 86, of Hughesville, Md., died Wednesday September 21, 2005, at Civista Hospital, LaPlata, Md. Born March 14, 1919, in Sulphur, W.Va., she was the daughter of late Charles Samuel and Rosa Helen Sharpless Green. She was a 1937 graduate of Elk Garden High School. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Leo Joseph Hortch of Hughesville, Md.; a sister Carrie Louise Lawrence and friend Charles Paugh of Keyser; two sons, Gary Lynn and wife Mary Hortch of Hughesville, Md., and Charles William Harvey and wife Neva of Hagerstown, Md.; five grandchildren, Lawrence and wife Sheila Harvey of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., Allen Harvey of Hagerstown, Md., Kelly Elliott and husband Robert of Biglerville, Pa., Kerrie Spurling and husband Michael of Mechanicsville, Md., and Joseph Hortch of Columbia, Md.; five great-grandchildren; and two nephews, James and wife Barbara Lawrence of Keyser, and William and wife Cheryl Lawrence of Shepherdstown, W.Va. She was preceded in death by a sister, Velma Green, in September 2002; and a brother, Earl Samuel Green and a sister, Leona May Green. Also, her former husband, John Thomas Harvey, preceded her in death. Friends will be received at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, Charlotte Hall, Md., on Sunday, September 25, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 26, at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hughesville, Md., with viewing one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. (Obit by Neva Layton Harvey ) In the Keyser Mineral Daily, Keyser, WV.

Faye E. Hortch of Hughesville, Maryland died on September 21, 2005 at Civista Medical Center in La Plata, Maryland. She was 86 years old. Born March 14, 1919 in Sulphur, West Virginia to the late Rosa Helen Sharpless and Charles S. Green. She graduated from Elk Gardens High School of West Virginia in 1937. She was a homemaker who loved cooking, baking, gardening and being with people. She was a member and served as President for two years with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Council in Annapolis, Maryland during the 1980’s. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bryantown, Maryland In addition to her parents, two sisters and one brother preceded Mrs. Hortch in death. She is survived by her husband, Leo J. Hortch; sons Charles Harvey and his wife Neva of Hagerstown, MD, Gary Hortch and his wife Mary of Hughesville, MD; sister Carrie Lawrence and good friend Charles Paugh of Keyser, WV; grandchildren Lawrence Harvey, Allen Harvey, Kelly Elliott, Kerrie Spurling and Joseph F. Hortch; great grandchildren Michael Spurling, Matthew Spurling; Nathalie Elliott, Grae Elliott and Bess Elliott. Family to receive friends on Sunday, September 25, 2005 from 3-5 & 7-9PM with Prayers at 7:30PM at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. 30195 Three Notch Road Charlotte Hall, MD. Visitation from 1PM to 1:45PM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 2PM on Monday, September 26, 2005 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Notre Dame Place Bryantown, MD with the Reverend Joseph Kleinstuber officiating. Interment Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Lawrence Harvey, Joe Hortch, Jim Lawrence, Jason Ketchel, Matthew Amerling and Joe Fort. Honorary Pallbearer is Allen Harvey. Memorial contributions may be made to the Katrina Relief Fund care of any charity of one’s choice.
