The Rumby family is a family of great men from Uppland

The Rumby family is a family of great men from Uppland, which has recently been named after the farm Rumby or Romby, now Runby, in Eds sn in Vallentuna. Through his marriage to a sister of Johan Karlsson (Fånöätten) a niece of Filipssönerna (Aspenäsätten), Filip av Rumby came to participate in these gentlemen's rise against King Magnus but was spared in 1280 to the life of the king against relinquishing a large part of his properties. Called in the Swedish confirmation letter to the Upplandslagen Filip Röde. Mentioned for the first time in 1276 and then bears the title of domino and is placed as No. 6 among the 16 'majors regni' that seal King Magnus' market letter to Sko monastery, from which it also appears that he belonged to the great men who put King Magnus on the throne. According to the Erikskrönikan, he took part in the great men's rebellion against King Magnus. Appears again in the king's surroundings as a witness at a farm change in 1283, but not in any further national political contexts. Mentioned in 1296 as one of the representatives of Attundaland in the preparation of the Uppland Act. Lived still 1307. Had land in Frösåkers, Färentuna, Sjuhundra, Trögds, Vaksala and Vallentuna hd. He was at the head of the commission that drafted the 1296 adopted Upplandslagen. He was from the Uppland legal family, both his father and grandfather were lawyers. He himself became a lawyer in Uppland around the same time as the Uppland Act was written. During the 1290s, Filip Finvidsson was among those who had King Birger Magnusson's mission to write down the Upplandslagen. Filip was then called Filip Röde from Runby.
