About Florence Gesner Wells Porter
June 25, 1902--Florence Gesner Wells Porter, soprano, is performing in a Musicale. Her husband (Wallace) is the accompanist. The piano is from the Warerooms of Lyman Payne, Middletown, Connecticut.
Sept. 4, 1910--Wallace Porter (Florence's surviving spouse) writes to their son (Philip Wells Porter, Sr.): "...Most of the folks have gone to church. I think I shall have to go back and play...[the organ]...for them. It is evident that if I don't they will have a hard row to hoe, and perhaps it is my duty to help them all I can. Perhaps Ma [Florence] would tell me I ought to do it if she could talk to me. It seems as if I could hear her talking some time. We have been to her grave every evening so far and kept the flowers fresh, and the grass green."
