About Florence Schneider

SCHNEIDER, Florence (Geiger) Graduated to eternity on Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Leisureworld Caregiving Centre in Elmira. We are grateful for the diligent and respectful care she received while there for the past year and for the compassion and regard shown to the family. In her 98th year, Florence was the daughter of Jacob and Alberta (Schmermund) Geiger, and was predeceased by her husband Walter (2006) after 64 years together, and two sisters, Beatrice Christman (2000) and Gertie Geiger (1997). Florence is lovingly remembered by her two children, Myrna (Schott) Shantz and her husband Ken, and Ross Schneider and his wife Gail. She is also held in the hearts of her two grandsons and great-grandchildren: Trevor Schott and his wife Brenda and their children, Marlowe and Walker; and Trent Schott and his wife Kerry and their daughters, Abby and Morgan. Florence came to Elmira from the home farm west of Glen Allen as a young woman, met and married Wally and resided in Elmira on Centre Street for most of her life. She was an avid gardener, canning and preserving the bounty of her garden. Her hands were ever occupied with knitting, crocheting, quilting and sewing. She conserved, reused and recycled long before it became an emphasis. St. James Lutheran Church, Elmira was the harbor for Mom's deeply held spiritual beliefs. She was a life-long member and was tenderly shepherded by Pastor Hans Borch in her last years. In keeping with Florence's wishes, there will be no visitation and a private family service will be held. The family expresses thanks for prayers and loving support given to them. www.dreisingerfuneralhome.com
