Obituary: Florence Malvina Aldrich was born September 18, 1851 at Warsaw, Wyoming County, N.Y.and died June 13, 1930 of a lingering illness at exactly 78 years , 8 months, and 29 days of age. Members of the Aldrich family fought in the Revolution.Her parents were English, of Quaker ancestry. Mrs York retained through like many of the excellent traits of these Quaker ancestors, a comtempt for shams and a love for substantial things being promised.
She moved from her birthplace with her parents at an early age to Hamburg, N.Y.. It was here that her father, Mason Aldrich, drove the stage coach on the plank road from Buffalo to Hamburg.
At the age of 12 she moved with her parents to Forrestville, N.Y. where she grew to woman-hood. H She received a musical education in the Free Academy and was always prominent in the world of music. . Soon after her graduation she married Warren Yeomans York, March 12, 1874. At the time of their marriage Mr. York was teaching school at Pine Valley and it was here they made their home.
In 1878 they pioneered to NE, settling on a farm 4 m. west of Lincoln on "O" Street. In the year of 1884 Mr. and Mrs. york took a homestead in the Oute(?) Reservation near Liberty, Gage County, NE. Here they, with Mr York's brother Lewis, set up a cheese factory, manufacturing cheese for over 10 years supplying the surrounding territories with this product.
In1908 they moved to their present home near Havelock.Mrs. York joined the Mount Carmel Baptist Church near Liberty in 1900 as a charter meber. All her life she was a devoted christian, living her religion every day.
To this holy union of marriage eight children were born, five of whom are living: 2 daughters, Miss Licena May York, living at home: Mrs Emery W. Darby of Julesburg, Colorado: 3 sons, Lewis Ernest York, Bert Warren York, and Hugh Henry York all residing at Liberty NB.
Besides her husband and five children, Mrs. York leaves to mourn 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a host of friends and neighbors.
The funeral services wer held at Sharon Church, Sunday, June 15, 1930 at 2 pm. Interment was made in the Wyuka Cemetery.
