Frances (Fanny) Cannon was born about 1787 or 1788, in Guilford or Davids on County, North Carolina.
She married first probably about 1803, Samuel Gentry. He enlisted on Ju ne 18, 1812, as a private in the Cavalry Troops of Captain David Maso n, in the War of 1812. (Record in Tennessee State Library). He died pri or to April, 1816, as on that date his widow, Fanny Gentry, applied to t he Williamson County Court for a Year's Support from his estate.
She married second, August 24, 1818, in Williamson County, Thomas Cheatha m. (Williamson County Marriage Book I, Page 157)
Thomas Cheatham and Fanny Gentry probably had children by their former mar riages, as theirs was a large household in the 1820 Census of Williamson C ounty, two years after their marriage in 1818. The household consist ed of Thomas and Fanny, one daughter between age 16-26; three daughters, a ge 10-16; one son, age 10-16; one daughter, under 10 years of age; and t wo sons, under 10 years of age.
