About Francis Albrighton
Note: Francis (Albrighton) Albritton was the first known Albrighton to immigrate to America. in January 1651. He made his will in York County, April 9, 1667, naming seven children; Richard, Francis, George, John, Anne and Margaret. Each of their names was spelled Albrighton, but he signed his will as Francis Albritton.

Text: Francis (Albrighton) Albritton purchased land in York County, Ba., in January 1651. per the York County Record Book #1, page 33. He bought adjoining land in 1655 (page 98). He made his will in York County, April 9, 1667, naming seven children; Richard, Francis, George, John, Anne and Margaret. Each of their names was spelled Albrighton, but his will was signed Albritton. Reference- York County Record Book #4, page 132. Francis' will was probated April 24, 1667 in York Co., VA. Beneficiaries were his loving wife and seven children. His wife was made executor of his will by his request. Deposition Jan. 26, 1657 gave Francis' birthdate as 48.

Text: The first known Albrighton in America was Francis Albrighton. He purchased land from John Fleet in January 1651/52 in York County, Virginia. He purchased a second tract of land from John Fleet four years later and paid for the land with tobacco. He made a deposition to the court in 1657 stating he was 48 years old. He did not give his place of birth. Bobby Albritton does not think the American Albrittons descended from Robert Alberton.
