Several genealogies list Frances Elizabeth Coleman as the wife or first wife of James Tompkins, Sr., but I've not seen any evidence of the marriage. James Edwin Tompkins 1st wife of James Tompkins’s LNAB is unknown, so it is possible, but unlikely that she was his first wife.

The conflicting information may have been caused by a later Frances Elizabeth Coleman who married a different and later James Edwin Coleman elsewhere in the US.
