MR. F. M. GRAY.
Death of Former Confederate Soldier.
Mr. F. M. Gray, known to his friends as “Fox” Gray, died at his residence near Nobob, Monday morning, of inflamation [sic] of the brain. He lacked only five days of being seventy-seven years of age. Mr. Gray was born and reared near Knoxville, Tenn. He never had a brother or sister.
At the outbreak of the war, he was county clerk of Fentress County, Tenn. He at once entered the Confederate Army and served to the close of the war. Soon after this, he settled in the Nobob country, where he has since lived.
He is survived by one son, Mr. W. H. Gray of Greenville, County Attorney of Muhlenberg County. His second wife, who was originally a Miss Neighbors of the Tracy country, survives him. Mr. Gray was a devout Christian and was a man of the highest character. No better citizen lived in his section. He returned only two weeks ago, from a visit to his son. The burial took place Tuesday, in the family burying ground, after funeral services by Elder J. W. Reneau.
