Francis Marion Jordan, Sr.

Francis was commonly called Frank. He built the fort which was located in the area of Frankfort Heights after the territorial governor requested defensive positions be built due to Indian uprising. After Illinois began to be surveyed and land to be registered, Francis' first land entry was 1814 in Cave Township and later another during 1816 in Denning Township. The town eventually moved west, hence the name West Frank's Fort, later becoming West Frankfort, Illinois. He eventually sold the fort to his brother and moved on. No additional records of him have been found.
