About Francis Cowan Shirra
After the death of his mother at his birth Francis was taken and raised by his Aunt Helen who was the widow of William Dunn and had no children of her own. She raised Francis at 22 Phillips St Bainsford, Falkirk for the next nine years. She also raised Francis' half brother Alexander. Her unmarried brother William and her father James also lived with her after his wife, Jean Bowie Rule passed away.
Used to live in Balaclava St South Brisbane then moved to Lincoln St Stones Corner, Brisbane
Enlisted into Army 5-7-1917 at 18 years of age

Francis was wounded while serving in the LAustralian Army in France in 1918 and returned to Australia 16-3-1919.
He became a carpenter and cabinetmaker.
After marrying Gertrude lived at Geera St, Coorparoo before migrating to Utah USA in 1956.
